Privacy Policy

Rain Étude (“the app”) turns the sound of rain into music. It is designed to work entirely on your iPhone. This policy explains what the app accesses and why.

The short version

• We do not collect any personal data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs.
• Microphone audio is processed on your device and is never uploaded.
• Location is optional, approximate, and only used to get the weather from Apple Weather.

Microphone

When you start a session with the microphone, the app analyzes incoming sound on your device to detect raindrops and turn them into notes. While a session runs, the music and the sound of the rain are saved as an “étude” in the app’s storage on your iPhone so you can listen to it later. This audio never leaves your device unless you choose to share it (for example, by exporting a video or an audio file through the system share sheet). You can deny microphone access and still use Studio Rain and Finger Rain.

Location and weather

If you allow it, the app uses your approximate location (precise location is not requested) to ask Apple Weather whether it is raining nearby, to show the weather next to your études, and to name études after your city. Coordinates are rounded (about 10 km) before they are used and are not stored with your études — only the city name is. Weather requests are handled by Apple’s WeatherKit service under Apple’s privacy policy; they are not linked to your identity. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather (data sources).

Notifications

Rain alerts are off by default. If you turn them on, the app checks the forecast in the background and schedules a local notification on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers — we don’t have any.

Your études

Recordings, rain logs and covers are stored locally in the app. They are included in your regular device backups (iCloud or computer backup) if you use them. Deleting an étude or the app removes these files.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, store, sell or share personal information, usage data, identifiers or diagnostics. If you contact support by email, we use your message only to answer you.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
